How it works

Registration at the residents’ office
Your address must be registered within two weeks of moving in. The registration certificate is the basis for almost everything that follows, which is why it comes first.

Bank account and health insurance
Without a German account no salary arrives, and health insurance is mandatory in Germany – registration with a health fund must be in place by the start of employment at the latest. We help with the choice, the application and the paperwork.

Tax ID and payroll data
The tax identification number is sent automatically by post after registration. We explain what the employer needs from it and what the tax class means for the first salary.

Accompaniment to appointments
We come along to the important appointments – immigration office, registration office, bank. Someone sitting in a German public office for the first time does not need words translated, but procedures.

- How quickly do I have to register after arriving?
- Within two weeks of moving into your accommodation. For the appointment you need your passport and the confirmation from your landlord.
- Do I need health insurance before I start working?
- Yes. Health insurance is mandatory in Germany, and registration with a health fund must be in place by the start of your employment at the latest. Your employer pays roughly half of the contributions.
- What does this support cost the professional?
- Nothing. Our support is free for the professional – we are contracted and paid by the employer.
